Kienna Rodriguez: from Girls Inc. to Leadership

The Girls Inc. equips girls with skills to help them tap into their fullest potential and experiences that broaden their worldview and foster meaningful connections with other participants and mentors. For Girls Inc. Of Santa Fe alumnae, Kienna, these experiences have shaped her life. Kienna, who is working full time in government and attending graduate school to receive a Masters of Publican Administration, reflected on her favorite memories from her time in Girls Inc.

My favorite memory is when all of us girls were sitting in a circle learning to sign our name in ASL. We were also taught the alphabet. It was more than the act of learning ASL but a deeper skill I have carried with me my entire life that means a lot to me in learning how to accommodate others and show everyone kindness always.”

When asked what advice she would pass on to girls today, Kienna shared “I would tell the girls that nothing is permanent, and everything is meant to be cherished and enjoyed, even the things that hurt in this moment. Only you can determine your future and your fate, hold onto those dreams you have and make them come true, even if it takes time.” Her words are a reminder that growth often comes through challenges, and that resilience, hope, and self-determination are key to becoming strong, smart, and bold.

Kieanna also shared, “Organizations like Girls Inc. create a greater impact than we can comprehend. Teaching young girls skills, kindness, confidence, and education will help them throughout their entire life, especially as they develop into the future generation of leaders.” Thanks to our donors and supporters, girls like Kienna continue to thrive and lead with purpose.
