November 17, 2020 – New York
Girls Inc. will host a virtual fundraising event on Sunday, December 6 at 7:30 pm ET/ 4:30pm PT streaming exclusively on Bustle’s YouTube channel. Hosted by friend and supporter Tina Fey, the event celebrates the power and potential of girls to lead and to break down barriers as a new generation of female leaders.

The fundraiser will feature a number of notable women in entertainment, business, sports, politics and more who will share stories of their achievements and pay tribute to those who have made a difference in their lives. Confirmed to take part alongside Clinton and Fey include Red Table Talk’s Gloria and Emily Estefan, Talk show host and Executive Producer Tamron Hall, Chairwoman of Universal Studio Group, Pearlena Igbokwe, actress and activist Jameela Jamil, and the most decorated gymnast of all time, Simone Biles with more to be announced at a later date. Throughout the event, Girls Inc. girls will also share their inspirational journeys and personal triumphs.

“Girls urgently need access to role models who embody confidence, leadership, and achievement. That’s what helps them imagine their own success,” said Dr. Stephanie J. Hull, Girls Inc. President & CEO. “Girls Inc. is committed to increasing opportunities for girls and inspiring them to embrace new possibilities. We are grateful that so many donors, friends, and supporters make our work possible.”

Girls Inc., whose mission is to inspire all girls to be strong, smart, and bold, has hosted its annual fall fundraising event in Los Angeles for nearly 25 years, and a sister event in New York every spring from the past 36 years. Past honorees and attendees have included Eva Longoria, Tracee Ellis Ross, Yara Shahidi, Reese Witherspoon, and the Born This Way Foundation. This year’s virtual event provides an opportunity for Girls Inc. to expand its reach and attract greater support for its mission.

Tina Fey adds, “Girls Inc. helps young women around the country recognize their potential and gain access to opportunities, which has always been very important to me. I’m excited to join in this gathering as they share wisdom, skills and knowledge to empower our next generation of female leaders.”

“I am thrilled to be a part of an event that empowers the next generation of female leaders to break down stereotypes and challenge what is expected,” said Emma Rosenblum, Editor-in-Chief, BDG Lifestyle. “It is critical that our youth feel empowered to raise their voices and thus become change-makers within society.”

Girls are the leaders our future needs. However, too many girls from some of the most vulnerable demographics are shut out of opportunities to grow and reach their full potential. Girls Inc. is a proven solution to the challenges girls face, delivering life-changing programming and experiences to girls ages five to 18, in over 350 cities and 1,600 sites across the U.S. and Canada. Nearly 80 percent of girls are Black and brown girls. Sixty-two percent live in households earning $30,000 a year or less and 17% come from households earning $10,000 or less. Funds raised at the virtual event will allow Girls Inc. to provide more girls the opportunity to discover and develop their inherent strengths and envision who they can become.

This year we are celebrating today’s female leaders and a new generation of leaders.

This event will raise much needed funds to support the work of Girls Inc. Corporate sponsorships packages are available as well as opportunities to support individually with ads and donations. The event will be streamed at no charge at Bustle’s YouTube channel.
