Our Purpose

We Help Create a Culture of Excellence Where Girls Thrive.

Each of our affiliates operates independently, and our role at National is to ensure that these local organizations have access to three key resources that allow them to make direct service a priority.

Support to recruit, develop, and retain the excellent people—both employees and volunteers—who are the heart of the Girls Inc. Experience.

Research-based and evidence-based programming and facilitator and mentor training to ensure the teams who support the girls reflect the population we serve, and girls have the mentors they need to follow their dreams.

Thought partnership and technical assistance to support the consistent excellence of our affiliates.

If we all do our part, the Girls Inc. Experience comes to life throughout our network of affiliates. They have the support they need to recruit and retain trained mentors to serve as program facilitators; and each affiliate, urban or rural, large or small, can leverage the strong reputation of the entire network and make the most of your local involvement, as they support local schools and communities.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Girls Inc. is committed to ensuring equity is at the core of everything we do.

The North Star

At Girls Inc., we create a diverse, inclusive, equitable environment where all can thrive because that is what is required to inspire all girls to be strong, smart, and bold. Girls Inc. seeks to hire, retain, and personally and professionally support talented people who come from a wide range of races, ethnicities, cultures, nationalities, ages, gender identities, sexual orientations, religions, socioeconomic backgrounds, and abilities. We believe that when we bring together a diverse employee community and make a sincere and intentional commitment to equitable and inclusive policies, practices, and actions, we are a better organization. Seeking out a range of ideas and perspectives leads to better problem-solving. Working in diverse teams broadens dialogue and promotes creativity, ultimately enhancing our effectiveness as we executive our mission and model the world we want to see.

Employee-Led DEI Groups

Advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion is everyone’s job, not just the responsibility of a select few. Still, Girls Inc. has enlisted the support of two employee-led groups to help progress DEI efforts:

DEI Alliance:

The Alliance will support Leadership in examining the organization’s infrastructure, culture, and resources to ensure the National organization is making improvements to cultivate an environment that encourages belonging for employees, Board members, and other stakeholders.

Affiliate DEI Roadmap Pilot Cohort:

Ten affiliate and one National two-person teams were selected to join our inaugural DEI Roadmap Pilot Cohort. The pilot will support affiliates in employing the Affiliate DEI Roadmap (i.e., strategic plan) which is designed to guide organizations in reflecting their focus and intention around diversity, equity, and inclusion.
The employee-led DEI groups will play crucial roles in cultivating a more equitable and inclusive Girls Inc. Network through building connection, competency, and compassion for employees and program participants.
