New York, New York – Oct. 24, 2022- Preeminent girls’ leadership organization, Girls Inc., has appointed seven new members to its National Board of Directors. The new board members come from diverse sectors including consumer packaged goods, retail, and biotechnology. The National Board also includes leaders from the Girls Inc. affiliate network, who lend their expertise to support the organization’s governance while advancing the Girls Inc. mission to inspire all girls to be strong, smart, and bold.

Lara Abrash – Chief Executive Officer, Deloitte US Audit & Assurance

Lara Abrash is an innovative transformational leader instrumental in pioneering Deloitte’s position to revolutionize the audit profession. Lara’s work ethic extends to her community as an advocate for equity, inclusion, and diversity. 

Bobby Amirshahi – Senior Vice President, Corporate Communications, Macy’s Inc. 

Bobby Amirshahi leads Macy’s enterprise-wide communications, including crisis, issues, and reputation management, public relations for the consumer brand, colleague communications, financial communications, social impact and corporate giving.

Mandy Engel-Cartie – Executive Director at Girls Inc. Of Sioux City

Mandy Engel-Cartie is a Girls Inc. and community leader supporting girl-targeted education with award-winning national curricula. A loyal public servant, she served on the National Girls Inc. Public Policy Advisory Council and countless other boards in support of women within the state of Iowa.  

Dawna Michelle Fields – Director of Community Affairs and Operations for Colgate-Palmolive’s Bright Smiles, Bright Futures, North America

Dawna Michelle Fields is a communications and corporate social responsibility expert. She is the driving force behind the Colgate-Palmolive “Bright Smiles, Bright Future” global initiative, supporting underserved children and families. A steward in her community, Dawna mobilizes her talents and resources to advocate for and support vulnerable populations in need.

Stephanie Hsieh – Executive Director, Biocom California/Greater Los Angeles

Stephanie Hsieh is a trailblazer in the world of biotechnology, transforming the Los Angeles region into a premier life sciences hub, devising and executing impactful strategies and initiatives for ensuring growth and sustainability.  

Kay Mathers – Program Director for Ruth’s List Florida

Kay Mathers is a veteran board member of Girls Inc. Sarasota who has dedicated her career to helping women and girls use their voices for change. She currently serves as the state-wide Program Director for Ruth’s List Florida, an organization that supports and recruits women running for elected office. 

Beth Myers – Chief Executive Officer, Girls Inc. of Metropolitan Dallas

Beth Myers is a dedicated public servant with a career spanning over 30 years. She oversees the operations of one of the largest Girls Inc. affiliates and brings a wealth of experience in all things nonprofit management. Beth is passionate about serving her community and helping those who have been deprived of the opportunity to succeed.

These new members join an outstanding group of 24 professionals who make up the Girls Inc. Board of Directors.
