Financial Literacy Month with Girls Inc.
April is Financial Literacy Month. Throughout the month, Girls Inc. aims to teach girls economic literacy principles like how to manage, invest, and save money. Girls Inc. Brand Ambassadors, Berklee, and Maya reflect on how Girls Inc. has helped improve their financial literacy.
“Girls Inc. has played a huge role in improving my financial literacy and how I think about money,” says Berklee, a Brand Ambassador from Girls Inc. of Philadelphia & Southern New Jersey. “Through their Economic Literacy programming, I’ve learned practical skills like budgeting, saving, and understanding the value of investing. I also had the opportunity to learn about personal finance through my Affiliate’s partnership with Pricewaterhouse Coopers LLC, which helped me better understand real-world financial concepts and the importance of managing money wisely. Before, money felt like something you just used day-to-day, but now I see it as a tool for building stability and creating opportunities for my future. One impactful moment for me was participating in activities where we had to plan budgets or think through real-life financial scenarios. It made everything feel real and showed me how important it is to be prepared. As a young entrepreneur running my own vegan baking business, I use these skills every day, whether it’s managing profits, pricing my products, or saving for future growth. Moving forward, I plan to continue building strong financial habits, investing in my business, and creating long-term financial stability for myself.”
