I am strong because I can lift my own weight. I am smart not just because I get As. I am bold because I am not afraid to stick up for my rights.
Girls Inc. brought twenty teen girls from across the U.S. to New York City for the Girls Inc. Corporate CampSM for Entrepreneurs, sponsored by the Sam's Club Giving Program. The initiative gives girls a hands-on opportunity to build leadership and financial skills while exploring the benefits and challenges of business ownership with successful women entrepreneurs. Four teams of Girls Inc. girls learned what it takes to start and operate a business, attended workshops on financial management, business development, and presentation skills, visited women-operated businesses, and presented their plans to women business owners.
Check out the slideshow for photos of the participants and reflections on the transformations they experienced throughout the week:
Teams were selected from a competition in which Girls Inc. girls submit business plans for an original product or service. The winning teams hail from Florida, Indiana, Nebraska, and Texas:
