I am strong because I can lift my own weight. I am smart not just because I get As. I am bold because I am not afraid to stick up for my rights.
Girls Inc. and the WNBA
The Girls Inc. mission is a perfect fit with the powerful and dynamic action of women's professional basketball. Our first Take a Girl to a Game Night on August 8th was a big winner! In addition to many friends of our organization, 130 Girls Inc. girls attended the event at Madison Square Garden. Here's the play-by-play.
Girls from our Schenectady affiliate had the opportunity to play a scrimmage on the court prior to the tip-off!
Marquisha Henderson, star of the Girls Inc. basketball PSA, was on hand to serve as emcee of the pre-game reception along with WNBA President Val Ackerman. Watch the PSA.
During the game, the Girls Inc. PSA was shown on the big screen at the Garden-- bringing our Strong, Smart, and Bold message to thousands of WNBA fans!
Missed the big event? You can still get involved. Here's how!
Support Title IX
Female athletes of the future need your support today! Since Title IX was enacted in 1972, the number of girls participating in high school varsity athletics has risen from 300,000 to 2.8 million. In 2002, that progress is on shaky ground. Numerous lawsuits are challenging Title IX. Learn how you can help.
Donate to Girls Inc.
