NFL Charities is helping fund the development of Adventure Girls, a new age-appropriate component of the Girls Inc. Sporting Chance program. Adventure Girls will engage girls ages 12-14 in a program that challenges them physically and intellectually and fosters a sense of adventure, healthy risk-taking, leadership, and a variety of other life skills. The program will use a "challenge by choice" approach to introduce girls to nontraditional activities - such as challenge courses, rock climbing, kayaking, and mountain biking - that will enable them to set their own personal goals and create their own definitions of success. Adventure Girls will also enable girls to make connections between overcoming an activity's challenges and using those same skills to resolve problems in everyday life.
NFL Charities was founded by the member clubs of the National Football League to enable the teams to collectively support worthwhile causes on the national level. It supports programs that engage young people in enriching recreational activities that promote their development into productive members of society.
